Our founding journey
The idea for the Zeus and PJ Charitable Foundation emerged from a profound desire to ensure that no dog faces cancer alone. After experiencing the emotional challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis, we recognized the urgent need for support for dog owners in financial difficulty navigating this difficult journey.
While the founders did not encounter financial challenges themselves, they were deeply affected by the emotional toll of having a pet with cancer. This experience led them to envision how much harder it would be for those facing financial hardships during such trying times.
Our founding journey brought together a dedicated team, including our Board of Trustees, who share a common goal: to provide financial assistance and resources for dog owners in England facing cancer treatment costs.
Each trustee brings a unique perspective and personal motivation to the foundation, often stemming from their own experiences with beloved pets battling illness or their love for animals. Their commitment to animal welfare and understanding of the emotional burden associated with these diagnoses drives our mission forward.
The inspiration behind our foundation
Zeus, known for his gentle soul and affectionate nature, was a beloved companion who brought joy to everyone he met. His battle with melanoma showcased his strength and resilience, and even in his most challenging moments, he continued to inspire those around him. Zeus’s spirit taught us about the importance of compassion, hope, and the unwavering bond between humans and their pets.

Zeus was more than just a dog; he was a beacon of joy and love in our lives. With his kind and gentle spirit, he had a unique ability to brighten the darkest days. Often referred to as a "little angel," Zeus loved to cuddle and always seemed to know when someone needed comfort. His affectionate nature and unwavering loyalty made him a cherished companion.
In early 2023, Zeus faced a formidable challenge when he was diagnosed with melanoma. His fight was nothing short of inspiring, showcasing remarkable strength and resilience. Despite the trials, Zeus remained a source of happiness, teaching us the importance of hope and perseverance. His journey touched the hearts of many, prompting us to take action. After his passing in December 2023, we realized that his legacy should extend beyond his life; it should empower other dogs in similar situations to receive the care they need. Thus, the Zeus and PJ Charitable Foundation was born, dedicated to helping dogs like him thrive.
PJ, on the other hand, was a spirited explorer who thrived on adventure. His playful personality and zest for life reminded us to cherish every moment. Sadly, PJ’s journey was cut short by liver cancer, leaving a profound impact on our lives. In honoring both Zeus and PJ, we realized that their stories could be a beacon of hope for others facing similar struggles, inspiring us to create a foundation dedicated to supporting dogs in need.
PJ
PJ was the embodiment of strength and independence. His playful spirit and love for adventure made him a beloved member of our family. Whether it was chasing after his favorite toys or exploring new trails on long walks, PJ brought joy and laughter into our lives. His vibrant personality and zest for life reminded us daily of the simple pleasures that come with being a dog owner.
Sadly, PJ faced his own battle when diagnosed with an aggressive form of liver cancer. His journey was filled with courage, but it also highlighted the harsh realities that many dog owners face when navigating cancer treatments. Just before his eighth birthday in 2007, PJ's journey came to an end, leaving a void in our hearts that could never be filled. However, his spirit lives on in our mission. PJ inspires us to advocate for other dogs battling cancer, ensuring they have the resources and support they need. By establishing the foundation in his memory, we aim to honor PJ's legacy and help other dogs overcome their challenges.
