Frequently Asked Questions
The Zeus & PJ Charitable Foundation is a Charity dedicated to supporting dogs fighting cancer in England. We provide financial assistance for cancer treatments to dog owners facing financial difficulties.
Unfortunately, we do not fund all cancers and look to fund cancers where we can make the biggest difference in the life of the dog and its owner. For a list of cancers that we cannot treat, please visit our “How to Apply for Funding” page.
Funding assistance is available for dog owners in England who are facing financial challenges and have a dog diagnosed with cancer. We assess each application based on specific eligibility criteria.
We use means testing as part of our decision-making process and those who are receiving benefits granted by the UK Government (ie. Universal Credit, Uk Housing Benefit, Pension Credit, State retire pensioners living in council tax band A to D, please visit our “How to Apply for Funding” page for a complete list of approved benefits) are determined to be in need.
Those not receiving an approved benefit from the UK Government can still apply and will need to provide supporting financial statements which are specified on the Application and will be reviewed by our Financial Committee.
Not necessarily. Following the Financial Test, a team of Veterinary professionals will assess each application to understand the recommended cancer treatment, to understand the prognosis and to ensure that the cancer treatment is projected to increase the dog’s life expectancy by at least one year compared to not receiving the treatment. The Medical review is subjective and depends on several factors.
For all cases that pass both the Financial and Medical reviews, the Trustees will determine which cases to fund based on available funds held at the Charity.
To apply for funding, visit our “How to Apply for Funding” page, where you’ll find detailed steps to complete both the Initial Application and the Medical Eligibility Application.
Once your application is reviewed, you will receive a notification regarding the decision. Our dedicated review teams assess each case to ensure fairness and accuracy.
You can support us by making a donation, fundraising, or participating in our various initiatives. Consider donating to our General Fund, funding an individual dog’s treatment, or organizing a fundraising event.
100% of your donation goes directly to funding cancer treatments for dogs in need. All start up and operational costs are covered by our Founder, Kevin Flaherty, ensuring that every pound donated is utilized for the care of dogs facing cancer.
When a campaign starts for a dog, the General Fund will make a sizable contribution to the campaign, allowing treatment to begin. We expect the dog’s owner to assist in fundraising by sending emails and engaging with the Charity’s social media campaign. If the total raised from the fundraising campaign does not meet the goal, the General Fund will make a final contribution to ensure the campaign is fully funded.
Yes, we have a “Give in Memory” programme that allows you to honour your beloved pet by contributing in their name. This not only memorializes your pet but also supports dogs battling cancer.
